Our Names' Origin

Our very name itself, Parak, is an abbreviation of the word "mariposa" (butterfly) in Purépecha, along with “zinzuni”, meaning hummingbird. The Purépechas are Amerindian people native to our lands of Michoacán.

In the post-classical pre-Columbian era, they founded the second largest and most powerful empire in Mesoamerica from their capital Tzintzuntzan, surpassed in size only by the Aztec empire. The Purépechas were never defeated by the Aztecs; they were and continue to be the Gauls of Mexico.

The Parak logo represents the pre-hispanic "coyote man," recently discovered in Tacámbaro. Each product also incorporates regional fauna, including the monarch butterfly, which migrates annually from Canada, numerous species of hummingbirds, and the ocelot, among others.
